Confidence & assumptions: how to make photo estimates more accurate
Why the bot sometimes asks follow-ups — and how to answer in 5 seconds to get numbers closer to reality.

Photo analysis is always an estimate. That’s why we show confidence and assumptions — so you know where uncertainty comes from.
When accuracy drops
- Portion size isn’t clear (plate size, missing context, cropped photo).
- Oil/sauce is unknown (they add a lot of calories).
- Complex dishes (lasagna, ramen, layered bowls).
How to improve accuracy in 5 seconds
- Tap an option from follow-up buttons (if the bot asks).
- If the portion looks bigger/smaller — use portion 1.5× / 0.5×.
- Mark oil/sauce/drink if they were present.
A useful mindset
Don’t chase “perfect”. Aim for good enough: 1–2 quick clarifications usually give you most of the benefit.
